Creating A New Body Map

Creating A New Body Map

(Blue) Image Annotations

  • From the patient's chart (purple tab) select "Image Annotations"

(Orange) New Image Annotation

  • In the new screen, click the "+" to add a new body map

(Green) Select Body Map

  • A new window will pop-up. In the upper left corner of the window, click the box below "Image Annotation File" to select your boy map. Once an option is selected, a body map image will appear in the center of the window.

Add Image Annotations

  • (Pink) Name and Comments: The first time you create a body map, you'll need to add a name. Always name your body map as clearly as possible (Example: Body Map 3/2025).

    • This is a living document which means it can be updated any time by anyone. The "comments" box is where you should note any changes/updates. Include the DVM's initials and date of the exam (Ex: Updated masses - KF 4/2025)

  • (Yellow) These are drawing tools. They can be used to draw free-hand, add shapes, add text, or erase content

  • (Orange) This lets you choose the thickness of your drawing took

  • (Blue) This is your color selection

(Purple) Save The Image

  • If this is a new body map, click "Add" on the bottom left corner of the window to save the image. The pop-up window will close and you'll be returned to the patient's chart.

(Blue) ALWAYS Convert To An Attachment

  • Once your body map has been saved, you'll see this screen.

  • It's imperative you click the small paper clip before navigating away from this screen. Doing so converts your body map to an attachment which will allow you to find the body map in the patient's "Attachments"

    • Because body maps are living documents, saving each version as an attachment will allow staff to see how changes were made to the map over time.

    • Saving this as an attachment also allows the image to be sent in medical records
