Patient Status and Checkout

(Blue) Change Patient Status

  • The patient's status can either be changed via the Calendar

  • Or it can be changed via the dropdown menu found on the left side of the patient's chart

  • Click the magnifying glass to see all options

  • Options indicated with a heart are specifically intended for surgical procedures and COHATs

For anesthesia procedures, a patient's status will be changed throughout their visit.

An (R) indicates the status change should be done by a receptionist. An (M) indicated the status changed should be performed by medical staff:

  • (R) Admit for Surgery = A patient has arrived at the hospital, has been checked in by a receptionist and is awaiting a tech/DVM

  • (M) In Hospital = Patient has been fully admitted and is awaiting their procedure

  • (M) In Procedure = The patient's procedure has started (this can include premed)

  • (M) In Recovery = The procedure has ended and the patient is recovering. The DVM will give the client a patient pick-up window

  • (R) Ready for Discharge = The client has returned and has been placed in a room by a receptionist

  • (M) Ready for Checkout = A tech or DVM has reviewed patient discharge with the client and the client is ready to be checked out by a receptionist

  • (R) Departed = The patient/client have left the building. This will discharge the patient from Smartflow.
